Newcastle United have been forced to delay their transfer plans, including an ambitious move for Burnley's Danny Ings, as they fight to maintain their Premier League status. Liverpool are believed to be favourites to secure Ings' signature but Newcastle have also let the Clarets forward's representatives aware of their interest. The 23-year-old's contract expires this summer but, because he is under the age of 24, a compensation fee will need to be paid, although it will be nominal. Ings has netted an impressive 10 goals in 34 Premier League appearances this season for already-relegated Burnley, as well as contributing four assists, and he is being heavily-coveted by clubs including Newcastle, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. If the Magpies are relegated to the Championship, then the paper claim they will be unable to push through proposed moves for the likes of Ings, his Clarets teammate Kieran Tripper, Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and Marseille's Andre Ayew. Ings has scored 57 career goals from 172 appearances for Bournemouth, Dorchester Town and Burnley. Should Newcastle be demoted then there will likely be a mass exodus of players as well -
