St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has opened the door for a potential move to Newcastle United this summer, according to the Mirror. The 24-year old says it is his dream to play in the Premier League and that the Magpies are "a good club". The in-demand Gabonese international has also attracted interest from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, but is set to reject their overtures in favour of a move to England. Aubameyang said:
"I will choose England before any other destination. My dream has always been to play in one of the top two leagues in the world."
He also handed Newcastle a massive boost by adding:
"Newcastle is a good club and St James' Park is a monumental stadium where there is passionate fans."
Unpopular director of football Joe Kinnear is desperate to get a move finalised during this summer's transfer window to prove his worth to Geordie fans, after his re-appointment at St James' Park was met with fury earlier this month. The procurement of Aubameyang could help him do just that however and the ex-AC Milan star enjoyed a successful season last term. The French-born star netted 21 times in 44 overall appearances for Ligue 1 side St Etienne and could prove to be the perfect replacement for Demba Ba, who quit Tyneside to join Chelsea back in January. Other Newcastle targets include Norwich midfielder Anthony Pilkington as well as Aston Villa forward Darren Bent and West Ham defender James Tomkins.
