Hot on the tail of the news that Newcastle United are set to sign young French striker Emmanuel Riviere, and with the club going down 2-1 in their opening friendly of the pre-season campaign at Oldham, it looks like we might have the first look at Newcastle's new home kit. As is somewhat typical of this time of year, fans have already been treated to mock-ups and supposed leaks of the iconic black and white stripes, but this latest design, which includes the traditional striped design and of course the blue logo of Newcastle's current shirt sponsors Wonga. Here's the full image that the leak has been sourced to, which was released by a retailer in the Middle East...
The shirt will no doubt attract some criticism for messing with the black and white stripes and adding a small poncho like triangle design around the neck-line that is reminiscent of a nun's guimpe (though black rather than white, of course). As an indication of authenticity, it looks like the majority of the other shirts have already been announced, adding credence to the possibility that this is indeed the real deal.
