Jack Colback's position isn't safe this season after the club signed Georginio Wijnaldum (and Vurnon Anita's pre-season form) but the English midfielder will start as one part of the anchorman in McClaren's 4-2-3-1 formation. The 25-year-old gives Steve McClaren a gritty, industrious central midfielder but Colback will want to add some more goals and assists to his game in order to cement his place all season.
Midfield-Pivot - Georginio Wijnaldum
Georginio Wijnaldum will be a huge part of Steve McClaren's first team. His best position is still questionable and this slot could be filled by Anita but if the Magpies boss wants to use other talents higher up the pitch then the Dutch midfielder should play alongside Colback on Sunday.
