46. Facundo Ferreyra

You'd be forgiven for not actually knowing what Argentinian mystery Facundo Ferreyra looks like. The man nicknamed Chucky came to Newcastle in a busy period of August 2014 initially on a season long loan from the Ukranian league, with the country in political turmoil.
And that was about all he did: it quickly became clear he wasn't up to the physical demands of the English game - which he rarely troubled - and by his own admission he just wasn't suited. Ultimately he went back to Shakhtar without playing a single minute for the first-team.
45. Stephen Ireland
Signed From: Aston Villa (LOAN)
Villa must have been rubbing their hands with glee when Newcastle agreed to take Stephen Ireland on loan on the final day of the January transfer window in 2011. A formerly gifted player at Man City, he signed for Newcastle on loan injured and barely got out of the treatment room.
He made his debut in April, played just twice and was ruled out for the rest of the season after playing a grand total of 49 minutes. Not the most astute of temporary signings.

In an abysmal season that saw the Magpies relegated, the decision to sign FIFA legend Seydou Doumbia in February 2016 after a disastrous time with Roma still looks like a low-point.
He might have been quick but in his three appearances he scored precisely zero goals, looked badly off the pace and was largely a waste of a shirt.
