Played for Newcastle: 2002-05 Position: Centre Midfielder League Appearances: 110 League goals: 9 Perhaps an unpopular decision among a lot of Newcastle United fans but despite Jenas' "goldfish bowl" comments and fading performances throughout the 2004-05 season the midfielder didn't half run a lot. The Englishman was the definition of a box-to-box midfielder and looked like he covered a marathon each match, successfully winning tackles, breaking up play and controlling the pace of the game. Jenas had a great engine and it was evident to see by the amount of ground he covered per game. He was a significant factor in the re-establishment, or the return of the entertainers under Robson - winning the 2002-03 PFA Young Player of The Year - and at one point looked like he would be a strong contender to become the next Newcastle United captain (Graeme Souness made him vice captain in 2004-05).
