Premier League: Top 10 Signings of the Summer

By Joe Jessup /

5. Esteban Granero (Real Madrid to Queens Park Rangers)

Esteban Granero€™s switch to QPR was a strange one, seeing as he was at arguably the biggest club in the world. Getting a player of Granero€™s class without breaking the bank is good business in today€™s marketand although not well known in England, I expect that to change very soon. An ever calm presence in the centre of midfield, he is equally good playing with the ball at his feet or knocking round 30 yard passes. Not a tremendous goal scorer, but a classy player who can create goals for others almost at will. He should give QPR a fluency round the middle of the park that your Joey Barton€™s just cannot provide.

6. Michu (Rayo Vallecano to Swansea)

A somewhat unknown entity, few people batted an eyelid when Swansea captured Michu from Rayo Vallecano for a fee reported by the Mail Online as £2 million this summer, but, 3 games and 4 goals later, everyone in England is talking about him. A very dynamic midfielder, Michu is at his best when playing in the hole behind the striker. He netted an impressive 17 goals in just 39 appearances last year in his La Liga debut, making him the highest scoring midfielder in Spain. He was loosely linked by the Mail Online to Manchester United, but in Swansea has found a team to suit his style and I€™m sure the Welsh club will be reaping the rewards all season. http://youtu.be/kdVHYEgUOSE
