He certainly had the potential. Featuring only a handful of times during his early days with the club, the Italian had a slow start to life in London, but in his second season he made much more of an impact, challenging Ed de Goey for the first-team spot. Cudicini was voted Chelseas Player of the Year for the 2001/02 season, and was awarded with the ITVs goalkeeper of the season the following year. An injury during the 2003/04 campaign knocked him of his good form, and Petr Cech's arrival spelled the end of Cudicini's control over the first-team spot. Despite the Italian's long spells out of the first team, his availability to the team and performances when in form earn the player a slot at the better end of our list.
