£1.9 million might not seem like a lot of money in football these days, but back in 1993 it still was - especially when you were spending it on the awful Jason Dozzell. Dozzell had made over 400 competitive appearances for Ipswich Town prior to joining the Lilywhites and he had an impressive goalscoring record for a midfielder - including a goal against Coventry City in a First Division match on the 4th February 1984 at the age of 16 years and 57 days, making him the youngest player to have ever scored in the English top flight to this day. However, he just wasn't good enough for a team like Spurs. He did make 68 Premier League starts for the club - over a four year period - but he was constantly criticised for poor performances and the fact that he moved to Northampton Town for free at the age of 29 - and was sent back on loan to Ipswich during his time at Spurs - really does say it all.
