After having sent Benoit Assou-Ekotto out on loan to Harry Redknapp's Championship side Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur have left themselves with only one natural left back in their first team squad. Centre backs Jan Vertonghen and Vlad Chiriches are both capable of filling in at left back when needed, and Kyle Naughton can play there too (though is a right-footed natural right back), but Spurs could really do with another genuine left back to provide competition for Danny Rose. This need was highlighted in their most recent match at home to Chelsea when Naughton was brought in to fill in for Rose, who was injured. It left Spurs looking a little unbalanced and, although Naughton did okay, he never looked 100% comfortable and it would've been much better for Spurs if they could have brought in another genuine left-footed full back as Rose's replacement.
