Sunderland Transfers: 10 Dream Alternatives To Fabio Borini

7. Gabriel Agbonlahor

Big and strong with pace to spare, Agbonlahor has all the attributes to be a top forward, although the vast majority of his Villa career has seen him used in a wide position. Agbonlahor has torn Sunderland apart on several occasions - as fans are all too aware - therefore they€™ve seen his best at close quarters. While consistency isn€™t his strong point, what he could add to Sunderland would outstrip his weak points. In theory, Agbonlahor could comfortably fill any advanced attacking role: he has the power to run at defences and worry entire backlines when on his game. Developing that, and the manager using it to Sunderland€™s advantage could add another dimension. Sunderland have looked at him before in the days Martin O€™Neill was still the Black Cats boss, there was no shortage of support for him as a potential addition. He may no longer be most people€™s first choice, but given the length of time at Aston Villa, a fresh start could give the hefty forward man a new, invigorated lease of life. Coupled with Poyet€™s vision and ideal style of play, Agbonlahor could settle in well. Would he guarantee the goals that Borini would, particularly out wide, could be another consideration, however.
