West Ham Transfers: 5 Central Defenders To Target From The Championship

By James Kent /

4. Sean Morrison (Reading)

Reading€™s Sean Morrison is a player of a similar age, but most people would think that he is a less risky option. This is because the 23-year-old has gained quite a lot of experience playing first team football with Swindon, Huddersfield, Southend and of course Reading. The player featured as part of Reading€™s Premier League adventures last season, and many would say that he was one of the leading lights. This season he has carried on his form with some excellent performances in the Championship, underpinned by an average rating of 7.46. The player has big presence and many people would say that he has all the attributes necessary to be a top quality central defender. However, the jury is still very much out on if he can make it at the highest level. In terms of stats, Morrison has managed 1.3 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 12.9 clearances and 1.1 blocked shots per match; the player has also contributed a goal this season. There is certainly a perception that good English players aren€™t getting enough opportunities to play in the Premier League, and maybe Morrison is an example of that.
