We have to admit, one of the biggest draws to the idea of having Harry Melling on the show is his illustrious heritage. Not only was his grandfather the legendary Patrick Troughton, the Second Doctor himself, the rest of his family is in the business as well, with his uncle David Troughton also appearing on the show over the years (in the 70s as Peladon in The Curse of Peladon, and in 2008 as Professor Hobbes in Midnight). How could we not want the next generation of Troughton on the show? What's more, Melling has cultivated an impressive career after finishing up with the Harry Potter films, where the role of Dudley Dursley first made him famous. But hey, if we can't get him as a companion, we'll just have to bide our time and wait twenty or so years, until he can play the Doctor himself. Just in time for David Tennant and Georgia Moffet's daughter Olive to become a companion in her own right. The circle of life, it moves us all...
