Bryan Fuller is no stranger to having his shows canned - perhaps it's because he so often confronts death that they never seem to reach a large audience. Nevertheless, Dead Like Me was about a young woman, Georgia Lass (Ellen Muth), who is killed when a piece of the Mir space station falls to Earth. Rather than just dying, she becomes a reaper, who has to help the living transition into death with the help of some friends. Though the show had a great premise and some fine acting, Fuller bailed just a few episodes into the first season citing creative differences, and though the show made it to a second season, it was cancelled soon thereafter, with the belief being that the network simply lost confidence after Fuller's departure (combined with low ratings). A straight-to-video movie was released a few years later, though this is one show that still needs some proper closure. Given its cult status and a lack of support from Fuller, don't count on it.
