10 Badass Moments From TV Characters You Never Expected

7. John Kills The Cabbie - Sherlock

Sherlock Holmes is the badass one; that's probably what any Sherlock fan will tell you. In the first episode, he followed a murderer to the middle of nowhere and engaged in a battle of wits with his life at stake. And the most badass thing about it? He didn't have to. The gun that the murderer was wielding, he knew was a fake. He went of his own accord, with a murderer, just to have a chat. John Watson on the other hand, had a limp, seemed majorly uncomfortable in the presence of Sherlock's "arch-enemy" and was taken aback by the crazy lifestyle that his new flatmate led. He had post-traumatic stress disorder from fighting in Iraq, and seemed like the more normal one. Until he shot the murderer. John, the mild-mannered, polite and moral sidekick killed a man in the very first episode. It was an explosive twist, one that no one saw coming, but it bonded the pair early on. Of course, we've got used to his occasional moments of badassery €“ fighting a heroin addict was a highlight €“ but in the first episode of Sherlock, this was a shock. We were expecting Holmes to disarm the man intellectually, not for John to blow his brains out.
