The last two seasons were lovely in part because we got to watch Jaime and Briennes relationship turn from one of mutual disdain to something akin to companionship; showcasing the transformative affect that two of the most diametrically opposed characters in series can have on each other was a brilliant divergence from the books by the shows writers. This time in season four we get to see a twist on this interplay by introducing something of a mild sitcom featuring the odd couple that is Brienne and Pod. Briennes no knight, and its pretty obvious that Pods no squire, or cook, or almost any other position of skill, but their mutual dedication to honor seems to get them along just fine. Full of antics, repartee, burnt coneys, and that dopey yet adorable smile spread across Pods face, theyre quite entertaining to watch and provide a levity to the other stabby-slashy plotlines full of impending doom and inevitable betrayal that usually keep a high fantasy world together. The only road-tripping companions that could possibly rival them would be the Hound and Arya, but more on that later
