3. The Tzenkethi War

Very little is known about the Tzenkethi War, bar the fact that it may not have been an isolated event. Captain Benjamin Sisko fought in the conflict. During a relatively routine mission aboard the USS Defiant, the ship was hijacked by a Changeling infiltrator, who set them on a direct course to Tzenkethi Space with shields raised and weapons armed.

Sisko was desperate to avoid another war with this race, not just because of the damage it would inflict on both powers. No clear winner of the last war was ever announced on-screen, so it could well have been a decades-long stalemate, similar to the Korean War in Earth’s history. A single spark could reignite the flames.

Though the Defiant is averted from this attempted invasion, Sisko would later recall serving aboard the USS Okinawa under then-Captain Leyton. He discussed the ‘last’ Tzenkethi War, which again suggests that the Federation has gone into battle with these unseen aliens on more than one occasion.
