10 Crazy Ideas For Seasons 4 & 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

9. The Adventures Of Robert April

Adrian Holmes donned the command stripes to play Robert April in Strange New Worlds, the pilot episode of the overall show. As Bob, he was there to order Pike back out into space aboard the starship that he himself was responsible for launching.

Robert April was the very first commander of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. Launched in 2245, it signalled a new era for Starfleet, highlighting an advancement in technology aboard the state of the art Constitution-class ship. However, until this series, April had never been depicted in live-action before. James Doohan once voiced the character in The Counter-Clock Incident, but other than that, he is still a largely unknown individual.

This would be a swing that would tie in with any proposed cameos from the crew of the NX-01. If one were to focus on that historic launch, then April needs to be the one to command. To date, we haven't seen Holmes' iteration of the character sit in the captain's chair. Frankly, the closest he's come to the bridge is the ready room and conference lounge.

Give the man his dues! He began a legacy that lasted more than four centuries, at least. The Enterprise-J was transporting colonies in the 26th Century, which really isn't a bad run for a famous name. While the Enterprise, in its various forms, may be one of, if not the, most famous creations in Science Fiction, Robert April is a name that should be there alongside it. Even if it is only a single scene in an already packed set of episodes, seeing this man strap in and set sail would be a gift to all fans.
