Here's a rather 'Pointless' entry if ever there was one! Comedian Alexander Armstrong guest starred in The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe and, while this marked his first on screen appearance in the Whoniverse, it wasn't the first time he had directly contributed to it. Fans of CBBC's The Sarah Jane Adventures will recognise his voice - but maybe not his face - as the personna of Mr Smith, Sarah Jane's ever handy personal computer who appears, amidst a shameless self display of fevered fanfare, in the attic at 13 Bannerman Road to help aid the team in their extraterrestrial excursions. Mr Smith is a piece of highly intelligent state of the art technology with the power to hack into just about any system in the world which makes Alexander's physical stint as an RAF bomber pilot in the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special look pretty measly in comparison. His latter performance was heartwarming, though, if nothing else. Originally kiled during the Second World War, Reg was able to defy the odds and transport himself through the time vortex, with the help of his devoted wife Madge, to spend Christmas Day with his family. It was enough to warm the cockles of your Whovian hearts. Had things been different, Alexander would've probably ended up appearing on screen in The Sarah Jane Adventures, too. Before its leading actress Elisabeth Sladen sadly passed away, producers were planning an episode in which her super computer would take a human form and it would've been interesting to see how they would've reacted to meeting each other face to face. God bless fan fiction.
