10 Doctor Who Stars Before They Were Famous

5. Karen Gillan

It's been hard to keep up with Karen Gillan since she got zapped back in time by the Weeping Angels in Series 7 of Doctor Who. The actress has been busy establishing a name for herself across the (Amy) pond with leading roles in various films, including Oculus and the upcoming Western In a Valley of Violence, as well as a supporting part in Guardians of the Galaxy as Marvel mercenary Nebula. She's even helmed her own ABC sitcom, Selfie (because apparently there's nothing she can't do!), but way back when - OK, so it was, like, 2008 - she was getting up to all kinds of shenanigans in the popular Channel 4 sketch comedy series The Kevin Bishop Show. Hilarity ensued when the Scottish star played a wide variety of weird and wonderful characters and she did some pretty risqué things in the name of comedy. It all showcased her versatility as a performer, though, and nothing gets you further in life than gallivanting around in a star and stripes bikini. Promise.
