As brilliant as Frasier Crane was, his brother Niles Crane that always ruled Fraiser for me. David Hyde Pierce had perfect comic timing, mixing between the slapstick and drama that the show did so well. Admittedly Frasier wasn't quite as good when they got together, but his love for Daphne was one of the greatest unrequited love stories ever seen on screen, and the actor continued to deliver the magic week after week, even when faced with some questionable storylines (Daphne's mother, anyone?). But what has David Hyde Pierce done since his eleven-year stint on Frasier end? Well looking at his IMDB profile, not much in the last decade. Think about it. The only time you see this amazing actor on screen these days is when you're watching a repeat on Frasier. Or the occasional Simpsons guest spot as Sideshow Bob's brother Cecil. Perhaps because of his penchant for comedy, the actor tried to move away from this genre, knowing that no role will beat that of Niles Crane. The thing is, the actor was damn good at serious drama too; just look at the scenes when he faces his mortality as a result of open heart surgery in season 10. Why David Hyde Pierce isn't on our screens anymore, I don't know. But of all the people on this list, he's the one I wish had gone on to shine once again.
