10 More Spider-Man TV Shows That Could Join Silk On Amazon Prime
A Silk TV show is in the works for Amazon, but which Spider-Man characters could join her?
Late last night, it was revealed that the long rumoured slate of Spider-Man TV shows being overseen by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller may have found a home in Amazon Prime. The home of quality programming like The Boys and Jack Ryan, it feels like a good fit for this corner of the Marvel Universe, and first up for Sony Pictures is Silk.
The Korean-American superhero was Peter Parker's classmate and bitten by the same radioactive spider that granted him his spectacular abilities. She has all of the web-slinger's powers, as well as the ability to shoot webs out of her fingertips and an advanced Spider-Sense Cindy Moon dubs "Silk-Sense."
The prospect of seeing this character in live-action is undeniably exciting, but she's simply going to be the first of many Spider-Man heroes (and presumably villains) coming to the streaming service as part of what's been dubbed by Variety as "a suite of television series based on Sony’s Marvel characters."
Which characters will join here? There's no official word on that front, but there are plenty of rumours and a tonne of compelling theories for the other Sony-owned Marvel characters who could ultimately join Silk in what appears to be a new, small screen shared comic book universe...
10. The Wraith
Spider-Man has never really had an easy relationship with the police, but found allies in Jean DeWolff and George Stacy. Both died under tragic circumstances as an indirect result of the hero's actions, and NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe was there to see it all first hand. While she was also an ally to the web-slinger for a time, she eventually had enough of seeing criminals get away with their heinous actions.
Using equipment taken from villains like Mysterio and Mr. Fear to become a vigilante known as The Wraith, she posed as Jean for a time and terrorised the Big Apple's underworld, actually making a real difference in the process (albeit with some brutal methods).
The Wraith isn't the most original of creations, but her story could be fun to watch play out on screen. As a vigilante, a show like this could prove to be a solid replacement for The Punisher, taking an in-depth look at what it means for this "hero" to either balance her role as a Detective and vigilante or to leave that job with the NYPD behind to truly make a difference.
