10. The Wraith

Spider-Man has never really had an easy relationship with the police, but found allies in Jean DeWolff and George Stacy. Both died under tragic circumstances as an indirect result of the hero's actions, and NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe was there to see it all first hand. While she was also an ally to the web-slinger for a time, she eventually had enough of seeing criminals get away with their heinous actions.

Using equipment taken from villains like Mysterio and Mr. Fear to become a vigilante known as The Wraith, she posed as Jean for a time and terrorised the Big Apple's underworld, actually making a real difference in the process (albeit with some brutal methods).

The Wraith isn't the most original of creations, but her story could be fun to watch play out on screen. As a vigilante, a show like this could prove to be a solid replacement for The Punisher, taking an in-depth look at what it means for this "hero" to either balance her role as a Detective and vigilante or to leave that job with the NYPD behind to truly make a difference.
