10 Most Disturbing Stargate Moments

10. Chloe Is Impaled

Stargate Universe attempted to do something different right from the beginning. It was always going to be a darker series, borrowing much of its inspiration from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. The use of hand-held cameras was one obvious example of this, but so too was the content of the series.

Violence became almost commonplace in Universe, which rapidly took a sharp turn away from the comedic optimism of both SG-1 and Atlantis before it. While it was a smart move to do something different, it wasn't without a few shocking moments.

One such moment occurs in the episode Time. The teams discover a Kino - a small recording device that was native to Destiny - abandoned on an alien world. When the replay the footage, they watch themselves on camera go through a day. It quickly descends into an horrific scene with creatures attacking the team. Some of this happens off-screen and some happens on. The most startling moment however occurs when Chloe stumbles into frame and falls down directly in front of the Kino.

There is a bubbling under the skin of her back and, evoking memories of H.R. Giger's nightmares, one of the attacking creatures bursts out of her body and scuttles away.

An awful moment but also a statement as to what Universe was there to do.
