10 Most Hated Futurama Characters Ever

Was any Futurama character worse than Mom?

In the same way as every other TV show in history, Futurama relied heavily on its characters over the years, and will continue to do so when it returns next year. A good story, no matter how strong, simply cannot have the desired impact without characters that can effortlessly connect to an audience.

Though there weren’t anywhere near as many known characters populating New New York as there are in Springfield, many of Futurama’s characters became no less popular than those of The Simpsons. However, not all of them were as loved as Fry, Bender, or Leela.

Despite being just a relatively small interstellar package delivery company, the Planet Express crew had a ridiculous catalogue of misadventures, and came across some truly awful people. Rivals, villains, girlfriends, and even family had the ability to invoke one of the ugliest emotions en masse from the audience.

Whether this was intentional or not, there were more than enough awful people in Futurama. Some, like Fry’s family, were saved from this list by a minimal redeeming factor, but these characters didn’t even have that.

10. Cubert Farnsworth

The majority of the core cast of Futurama were introduced within the first two episodes of the series. First came the main three, followed by Hubert, Hermes, Amy, and Zoidberg. Midway through the second season however, the series grew by one incredibly annoying little clone by the name of Cubert Farnsworth.

Originally brought in as something of a meta device to make light of any plot holes or inconsistencies in the year 3000, he immediately pointed out that Planet Express didn’t need a bending unit, that Doctor Zoidberg wasn’t a real doctor, and that having a one-eyed pilot was ridiculous.

Though this particular trait didn’t necessarily last, Cubert’s arrogance, abrasive personality, and sheer lack of any likeability did. Even when given a best friend to bounce off in Dwight Conrad, he was never able to use any boyish charm or childish wonder to endear himself to fans.

After treating the Professor like crap in his first-ever appearance, Cubert never did anything else quite so bad, though he continued to just exist as an annoyance that the show didn’t really need.
