10 Most Underappreciated Seasons Of Cult-Favourite TV Shows
4. Season 2 - Twin Peaks
After the runaway success of its first season, expectations for the continuation of Twin Peaks were astronomically high. Could the cast and crew deliver a solid follow-up that would be every bit as engrossing and downright weird?
Well, sort of.
Sadly, the second season was a victim of meddling from above, which forced story-points and plot lines to be implemented against the wishes of its creators, most notably the reveal of Laura Palmer's killer, which was only ever meant to be a catalyst for the plot.
That said though, in spite of its troubled production, season two of Twin Peaks still has so much to offer. The weirdness of the first series is cranked-up to new heights and they really stretch the 'soap-opera gone wrong' concept as far as it could possibly go. With several bizarre and downright confusing storylines running alongside the increasingly dark and foreboding main narrative.
It's certainly a mess and does lose its focus around the halfway point, where it's easy to tell that the writers had no clue where the show was going now the killer was revealed, but it didn't stop them from being every bit as strange and experimental as they always were.
