Roseanne may be forever remembered in infamy because of how its acclaimed revival descended into chaos but let's instead focus on the original show's actual decline here.

Unquestionably one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history, Roseanne was adored by fans and critics because of how it realistically showcased a blue-collar American family with emphasis on both parents working, highlighting real-life issues and struggles while wrapping it all in a blanket of incredibly witty humour and a strong familial heart. And while it - like every show - experienced a number of low points along the way, it always seemed to rise above and keep viewers invested in the story of the Connors... that is, until the final season of its original run.

Without giving anything away, the ninth offering saw the family's money worries disappear overnight in a creative decision that might have made fans happy for the characters, but one that robbed the show of the charm, heart and practically the entire premise that made it so endearing in the first place. This was no longer Roseanne, and this was what ultimately resulted in its cancellation.
