10 Robin Williams TV Appearances You Must Watch

5. Louie

Robin made a brief appearance on an episode of Louie -- €œBarney/Never€ from Season 3 -- in which he played a fictionalized version of himself. The episode featured two separate stories with Williams appearing in the first half of the show. Louie and Robin briefly met at a cemetery -- the only two people who attended the funeral of a comedy club owner named Barney. Later, Robin joined Louie for lunch when they again bumped into each other. After some polite remarks about Barney€™s death, Louie chimed in with €œI€™m pretty sure that Barney was the biggest piece of s**t that I ever knew.€ Robin laughingly agreed and told CK about how Barney stole money from him and used it to buy a boat. The two chatted about Barney and their disdain for the man, and yet, they agreed that the thought of no one attending his burial gave them nightmares. After a strip club that Barney frequented was mentioned, the two men decided check it out. After revealing to one of the dancers that Barney had passed, they came to learn that not everyone hated the man. The club went quiet -- save for a few crying strippers -- in remembrance of Barney. It was a funny and sad look at death and legacy that has become more poignant in Robin€™s passing. The final words of the sequence are particularly disheartening now, as both Robin and Louie made a promise to attend the funeral of whoever passes first.
