Before the painful nudity gags in The Time of the Doctor (still not over that!), there was this painful - oh, so painful - nudity gag in Series 3's Gridlock. The closest the Classic Series got to this kind of thing, besides the desperate ratings ploy of having Peri in a bikini, was when Nyssa took her skirt off to reveal that she was wearing underwear which was essentially a steel tutu that even Superman couldnt see through. In NuWho, though, theres this. This is the 21st century, after all, but its still such an out of place joke that manages to be so blatant, not like that blow job joke in Love & Monsters... *shuddder*. Its a terrifying insight into Russell T Davies brain when you realise that he probably wanted to write a scene in which the Tenth Doctor lands on top of two people shagging and had to tone it down from there to adhere to the BBC's pre-watershed broadcasting regulations. And of course theyre reading 'Hang Out' magazine, specially printed by the art department to really draw it into the world of this weird fantasy. Doctor Who does it again. Next?
