David has received a plethora of accolades in his time including countless Best Actor gongs, that aforementioned Emmy and even the coveted title of being TV's Best Detective for his role in Broadchurch (more on that later), though something tells us he's most proud of his title as the Sexiest Man in the Universe. His most recent award is probably the most special to date, though, and not only because the word 'special' is actually included in its title! At this year's National Television Awards, David was the recipient of the prestigious Special Recognition award in honour of his ongoing contributions to the arts. His heartwarming speech was preceded by a celebratory montage during which familiar faces - including Doctor Who alumni Billie Piper, Russell T Davies and Catherine Tate - paid tribute to their close friend and colleague. Well deserved, David!
