3. Prepare To Be Accused Of Brainwashing

€œWell they didn€™t have any choice about being Doctor Who fans did they? Not with you two as parents.€ This type of statement is an accusation you must expect. There is an element of truth to it so don€™t overreact. You will schedule family time for each new episode. You will try to share your passion. It€™s hard to picture a Whovian who wouldn€™t try to switch their children onto the show. Everyone wants to share the things they love with their nearest and dearest. Doctor Who fans are no different. Perhaps they feel it even stronger when it comes to their favourite show and their children. They want their offspring to grow up loving the ever changing, ever constant Doctor just as they did. Doctor Who is a legacy they want to bequeath to their children. But you don€™t tie them to the chair and apply eye drops à la A Clockwork Orange. They are simply more exposed to the show than the kids of non-Whovians. Even if they were not, try and stop them watching and see how far you get. If you€™re keeping something from them, it must be good. Besides, all parents try to influence their kids, right? How many babies are jammed into a sports strip before they can sit up, let alone kick a ball?
