And now, to the quality Leslie possesses that makes her most desirable as a BFF: she is a hot mess drunk. A ranting, dancing, argument starting, surprise sobbing, hug distributing, terrible song singing, bad pun delivering, hot mess drunk. And everyone should be friends with a hot mess drunk. American sitcoms have rarely got realistic-drinking right but when the Parks & Recreation characters partied, they did it in a recognisable way. Leslie let loose on multiple occasions, each more entertaining than the last. Whether she was dance-fighting with Ann or singing face down on a desk, she exemplified the crazy-but-not-in-a-scary-way drunk mate. The sign of an excellent friend is one that you want to get drunk with and share your hangover with and Leslie was certainly that. All hail Leslie Knope, Peak Friend.
