Don't let the title put you off. While the show does have its soapy elements, the situation is actually a lot more nuanced than that.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend both reclaims and subverts its title, delivering one of the oddest, smartest, and most joyously entertaining shows on TV. With an insane amount of energy, it's an engaging, ambitious affair that can deliver sing-along musical numbers one minute, and an effective study of a character with mental illness the next.

The characters aren't always likeable, but that just makes them more human, and allows it to provide an effective commentary on real life relationships while being its own weird self at the same time.
