10 Ways Your Favourite TV Shows Will Probably End
2. It Loops Back - The Simpsons
Yes, yes, The Simpsons ended 16 years ago. Haha. LOL. Moving on...
While its quality has declined massively since its golden age, The Simpsons run is still remarkable. Currently on Season 28, it's been renewed through to Season 30, taking it to the record for number of episodes of a scripted TV show.
When you consider that, and how much of an institution it's become, wrapping things up becomes an almost impossible task. After 30 seasons, being one of the biggest and most beloved series in TV history and a cultural phenomenon, how do you possibly end?
There's always the chance it won't go out on its own terms - cancellation, irreplaceable cast members leave - but The Simpsons has earned the right to go out how it wants.
There have been countless theories, but one stands above the rest - and has even been discussed by Al Jean as a potential way to go out.
The episode would build towards the family going to the Christmas pageant that kicks off the very first episode - Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire. As it progresses, the animation style would regress back to what we saw right at the beginning too.
It'd certainly be a bold ending to attempt, and the fact it's been so openly discussed maybe hampers the chances of it happening. But really, how else do you end this show?
