River Song mystified fans ever since the flirtatious archaeologist lured the Doctor to a deserted library "with a kiss" (*in sarcastic Donna voice*). Full of empty silence and inky black shadows that slithered through the dark, the library harboured deadly secrets that were all eventually uncovered, but not the ones swimming behind River's knowing eyes. Along with Series 6, these anticipated explanations regarding Professor Song's identity came and came and came until River's timeline was a convoluted mess of timey-wimey, slippery-sloppy nonsense. In between enigmatic eye patch ladies and the-one-question-that-must-never-be-answered conspiracy, however, fans were treated to an unforgettable, unpredictable and voluptuous Time Lady, a vigilante who specialised in seducing the unprepared Time Lord or incapacitating guards with her hallucinogenic lipstick. She always gave mischievous smiles, silently boasting that she knew more than the Doctor. He squirmed and raved under her gaze, which had seen events of his future. Not to mention her unladylike tendency to storm into restaurants while pointing machine guns, demanding people to remove their clothing or her habit of using Fezzes for target practice. Perhaps no other female character can outmatch the galvanising impression River made on television history, but one comes very close, if not succeeds, in doing so. Ever since observing her uncanny code breaking skills, Sherlock and his devoted fan club had speculated much about Mrs Watson. Our suspicions that she was a "liar" turned out to be the truth. An assassin, capable of murdering Magnussen as well as John's best friend, was let loose onto our screens and, despite all of our lurking premonitions, it was still a shocking surprise.
