It makes slightly more sense when you consider that Gracepoint was Fox's attempt to capitalise on the triumph of Broadchurch, of course, and what better way to ensure a similar success across the pond than by casting the man who championed its acclaim in the UK? "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" and all that jazz. The Tenth Doctor star fronted the US remake as Detective Emmett Carver who joined forces with Olivia Colman Anna Gunn as Ellie Miller to investigate the mysterious murder of a young boy in a small, tightly knit coastal town. Sound familiar? It's supposed to, and if you love murder mysteries (and, as it turns out, a lot of people do!) then this will be right up your street. It's currently airing on ITV Encore in the UK but make the most of it while it lasts because it hasn't been picked up for a second season. Something gritty to tide you over until Broadchurch 3, anyway.
