Aaron Sorkin is best-known as the man responsible for creating The West Wing, a political drama juggernaut that can constantly be found near the top of lists of great TV shows. You€™d think that would mean anything he does for television would be a hit, but before and after he had shows that were cancelled fairly early.

Sports Night was a half-hour comedy-drama focused on a fictional sports news show of the same name, while Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip was a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional live comedy sketch show, starring Friends€™ Matthew Perry.

Neither of Sorkin€™s efforts at making a successful TV show featuring a TV show really worked, at least not in the eyes of the networks. While both were praised for their writing, with plenty of the smart, rapid-fire dialogue Sorkin is known for, they never really found a proper audience, and only lasted for three seasons and 67 episodes between them.
