10. Martin Jarvis in €˜Vengeance on Varos€™

On a planet where the citizens are allowed to murder their leaders if they do anything they don€™t like (and believe me that€™s nowhere near as fun as it sounds) Jarvis plays the only sympathetic politician there has ever been in TV history. He is the very definition of €˜some have greatness thrust upon them€™ as it is briefly mentioned that the Governors have no choice in whether they take up their post, and despite his people€™s constant bids to dispose of him he wrestles with an extremely powerful mining corporation just so they can have a fairer price for something the planet believes is worthless. It€™s hard not to admire the courage of the man. While some would argue this is more attributable to good writing than anything else, Martin Jarvis really throws everything he has into making us care about a character we€™ve never seen before and will never see again, and you have to love him for that.
