Everybody knew that Rose Tyler would be back with a vengeance in Series 4 after her involvement in its series finale was leaked in a filming picture and then eventually confirmed by the BBC but nobody was expecting her to pop up over two months early in its series premiere. Rose was never one to play by the rules, of course, and she shocked the nation to its core when she made an unannounced cameo appearance at the end of Partners in Crime. She didn't say anything but her face said it all as she turned to the camera and the iconic Doomsday music which haunted her departure was heard once more. She then turned away and disappeared into the distance which left fans both confused and elated in equal measure. What was she doing and where was she going? They'd have to wait a little while longer to get the answers (well, some of them - why was she always wearing the same clothes?) but it was a clever way of keeping them guessing. She made a handful of other blink and you'll miss them appearances in the build up to her eventful return but this is the one that created the biggest stir.
