Having been burned out of Winterfell by Tyrion, ignored by Jon Snow at The Wall and forced to travel north beyond it, Catelyn was intended to travel to Mance Rayder's camp and seek shelter with him, rather than manipulating her son Robb's rebellion and dying at the hands of the vengeful Freys. She still would have met her end though, as she was supposed to be killed by an Other in Rayder's camp. So Lady Stoneheart might well have still reared her head, and Arya would still have seen her parents killed. Was It A Good Change? The Red Wedding was a truly stunning event in the series, and though it might have been diverting to see Catelyn trying to scratch for a life after the death of her husband, to see her so utterly, unexpectedly betrayed at her son's wedding was all the more impactful.
