9. Eastenders - The Story Of Two Very British Institutions
Your eyes do not deceive you. That is the Third Doctor examining a potato at the fruit and veg stall outside the Queen Vic. It's all part of the convoluted plot by the Rani to gather a menagerie of sentient life-forms from across the galaxy. Obviously she needs a human to complete her plan...but why Albert Square becomes her destination of choice is beyond us. Doctor Whos 30th anniversary special Dimensions in Time gave viewers something quintessentially British as the various Doctors and companions interacted with the likes of Pauline Fowler and Grant Mitchell. Naturally its all very naff. While we got to see old companions like Liz Shaw, Leela and Romana II in action alongside the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors, it also gave us more screen time with Mel Bush, which is a tragedy all in itself. Eastenders may have been the most bizarre show to link with Doctor Who, but it's not alone. Click 'NEXT' to discover more
