The Fifth Doctor's outfit was very recognizable as a cricketers' outfit which was a vast departure from the prim and proper, or the "hobo-esc", looks of his previous regenerations. To top it off, he pinned a stalk of celery to his lapel, even though he despised the vegetable. Viewers later discovered that the celery changed colour when subjected to gases that were toxic to the Doctor. Handy!
