Also, the continued theme of Christmas throughout Series 7 (and the fact that the new companion is debuting at Christmas) could be realized in the simple fact that Jenna Louise Coleman wasnt merely cast as a throwaway charactershe was introduced to us in the beginning and hidden under our noses. (Especially when Steven Moffat teased audiences by saying that the new companion would be an unusual choice for The Doctor. Also, hes teased that shed be an equal, and if Oswin wasnt The Doctors equal in Asylum, then the world may as well get dragged away again by Davros.)
