7 TV Shows That Improved In 2019 (And 3 That Got Worse)
4. 13 Reasons Why
A show that never really should have gone past its first season, 13 Reasons Why attempted to delve further into the story of Liberty High's students than its source material did by carrying on Hannah Baker's story long after it had wrapped up. The result was highly divisive as the second season received overwhelmingly negative reviews from fans and critics due to its attempts to alter the original narrative to fit in new story developments and the finale's inclusion of a highly controversial (and deeply disturbing) scene.
Season 3, however, attempted to do something different - wiping the slate clean by altering its format as the death of its biggest villain resulted in a thoroughly compelling whodunit that successfully managed to make suspects out of everyone.
It wasn't perfect by any means and it certainly didn't need to exist, but it was a massive improvement over its predecessor that managed to reinvigorate the show.
