5. Legends Gets Too Silly

The CW

Legends of Tomorrow's very existence is a subversion of our expectations, as the show that was once lauded for being a dull Dr. Who rip-off designed to give B-rate heroes a chance to shine embraced the stereotypes and turned it into sheer brilliance. Mixing drama and depth with outlandish concepts and bonkers narratives, the show bucked the odds and somehow developed into the Arrowverse's best show throughout its second and third seasons. Unfortunately, it failed to get the mix right in its fourth.

Though still a highly enjoyable offering, it missed the endearing personality of Victor Garber's Martin Stein and brought in more in-your-face characters to make up for it. And even though it was already pushing the believability boundaries in 2018, the second half of the season earlier this year just became far too cartoonish.

It's a shame because this wasn't exactly a miss, but given what we've come to expect from Legends, it was far from a hit. Here's hoping when the fifth season arrives next year, the show will be back on form.
