Once the spectre of typecasting had been well and truly slain and the public no longer wholly identified Tom Baker as the Doctor, he could return to the small screen to play regular, recurring parts. And so he did, with some considerable style. Beginning with his role of Professor Geoffrey Hoyt in Medics and continuing as Donald McDonald in Monarch of the Glen, Tom featured in two hugely popular high-profile programmes in the 1990s and 2000s.
