8 Multi-Doctor Adventures Beyond The World Of Doctor Who
8. Pertwee, Davison, Baker and McCoy in The Airzone Solution
When proposed anniversary movie The Dark Dimension folded, The Airzone Solution became the de facto multi-Doctor anniversary spectacular. It was never intended as such, but director Bill Baggs was a huge Doctor Who fan who was keen to reach for the stars in his casting.
Pulling in various favours from Doctor Who stars he'd previously worked with, Baggs assembled an impressive cast. Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy all agreed to appear in the thriller (penned by future Dalek Nick Briggs) alongside Nicola Bryant, Briggs and even a young Alan Cumming! By its very nature, it's a cheap production, but feels stylistically similar to much of early 1990s television.
The plot revolves around a conspiracy to evolve humanity in order to live with the devastating pollution afflicting the planet. Colin Baker plays a TV weatherman who is contacted by the spirit of Peter Davison's murdered journalist to investigate a shady corporation. Sylvester McCoy meanwhile plays a mercurial activist, while Jon Pertwee plays an enigmatic scientist who is essentially The Airzone Solution's Curator.
It's a decent thriller, compellingly told and there's even a chaste sex scene between the Sixth Doctor and Peri. If you're into that sort of thing...
