2. Remember It's An Adventure Show Above Everything Else
Sure Star Trek has broken new ground and looked at touchy subjects, but at the end of the day its an adventure story. It follows likeable characters as they encounter new worlds and species and we see how they deal with that threat. From week to week there is action, romance, monsters, suspense and a spaceship battle or two thrown in for good measure. The reason the adventure part works so well is that the audience is invested in the characters, be it the original crew or The Next Generation (some people even like the Voyager crew for some reason). If the crew assembled for the next show can match some of the chemistry seen with those casts, then the show is on the right track. With the advancements in technology it should also be the best looking Star Trek on TV to date. They also need to bring back the Redshirts too. Everyone loves those guys.
