Arrow has spent the better part of its seventh season reviving its flashback days by utilising a series of flash-forwards instead. Set 20 years in the future, these flash-forwards have been attempting to set up an arc involving Oliver Queen's children, William Clayton and Mia Smoak, as they navigate their way around the once-great Star City where vigilantes are outlawed in a desperate bid to locate Felicity. In doing so, they have run into their father's old allies Roy Harper, Dinah Drake and the new mayor of The Glades, Rene Ramirez.

In many ways, this week's episode, 'Star City 2040', was the moment that it was all building towards as it was solely set in the future. After discovering Felicity's message last week, William and Mia made their way over the wall and into the esteemed Glades to figure out what Felicity was really up to. Of course, that was a lot easier said than done.

'Star City 2040' was the payoff that we had been waiting for, finally giving us some answers while neatly tying the events to the present-day narrative, making our new characters all the more relatable in the process.

First, the positives.
