Batman v Superman v Doctor Who: 10 Heroic Connections

9. Kerry Shale - The Joker/Dr Renfrew

Whovians will remember him for a brief but memorable appearance ushering Amy Pond into a Silence-infested orphanage in Day Of The Moon, but American actor Kerry Shale also has a unique place in the Batman mythos. Not only did he portray Dark Knight substitute Jean Paul Valley/Azrael, he took on the mantle of nemesis The Joker for the BBC Radio adaptation of DC's Knightfall in 1994. Powering into ear canals everywhere via producer Dirk Maggs, the production also featured Bob Sessions as Batman and another familiar voice from the movie franchise (more of which very soon). Though the Gothic visuals were missing, the play was lauded for immersing the listener in the story, and steeping them in the atmosphere of Gotham the way a million Joel Schumachers never could.
